Gergana Baramova receives BDSF Athlete of the Year Award
Badminton player Gergana Baramova won "Athlete with disabilities of the Year" award in a special ceremony, which took place at the National Theater "Ivan Vazov" in Sofia. The ceremony was broadcasted directly by the National TV - Channel 1 in the presence of the President of Bulgaria - Georgi Parvanov.
This new category was included for the first time in the annual ceremony "Bulgarian Athlete of the Year". The journalists voted for Baramova, who won gold medal in the singles at Summer Deaflympics in Taipei. Baramova received her Award from sprinter
Ivet Lalova and said that she is very happy to earn this award, which is recognition for her work.
In addition, 19-year old Baramova was elected BDSF Athlete of the Year and her coach Pencho Irikov was elected BDSF Coach of the Year. The medal holders from Summer Deaflympics in Taipei - the wrestlers Angel Kremov and Ivan Angelov were voted to second and third place.
